Cortizo Bi-Fold is the only solution that provides opening freedom of up to 95% of the aperture width. While sliding windows always leave part of the opening covered by glass, the Bi-Fold folds panels perpendicular to the frame, completely removing the barrier between your home and the outdoors. This is the ideal choice for summer verandas, pool exits, or restaurants where instant transformation from an enclosed heated space to an open terrace is essential.
Despite the complexity of the mechanism, this is a fully-fledged thermally insulated system with a 73 mm profile depth and thermal break, suitable for year-round living. Cortizo engineers ensured that the bi-fold system remains airtight: multi-contour weatherseals protect against drafts and heavy rain just as effectively as standard windows. The system allows creating impressive structures with up to 14 panels (7 on each side), spanning openings over 15 metres wide.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about Cortizo Bi-Fold
How much space do the folded panels take up?
It depends on their number. Each panel is approximately 7-8 cm thick. A stack of 5 panels will take up about 40 cm of space beside the opening. Panels can fold either inward (to keep them dry from rain) or outward (to save space inside the room).
Will there be drafts through such a complex structure?
Cortizo Bi-Fold is an airtight system. Special multi-fin weatherseals are used at panel junctions, which compress tightly when the lock is engaged, creating a continuous barrier against wind and moisture.
What is the maximum opening width that can be covered?
The system is modular and allows connecting up to 14 panels (maximum 7 on each side). With a maximum panel width of 1.2 metres, the total structure width can reach an impressive 16.8 metres.
Can this be used as the main entrance?
Yes, if you choose a configuration with an "active" panel. It is equipped with a double-sided lever handle set and a full cylinder lock. This is a secure and burglar-resistant door.
Is it difficult to fold the panels?
No, the panels are suspended on heavy-duty bearing rollers. However, the folding process requires a specific sequence: first the locks are opened, then the panels are moved in pairs. This takes slightly longer than simply sliding a sliding door.
How thermally efficient is this system?
Thanks to the 73 mm installation depth and thermal break, Bi-Fold offers excellent thermal insulation (Uw down to 1.1). It is significantly warmer than frameless glazing and is suitable for heated living areas.
