FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Windows with Roller Shutters
Do roller shutters provide better burglar protection than bars?
Yes, they are a modern alternative to bars. We offer extruded aluminum profiles with increased rigidity, which are extremely difficult to break into. When closed, they completely block access to the window, but, unlike bars, when raised, they completely clear the opening, meeting fire safety standards.
Is it better to install roller shutters immediately with the window or can they be installed later?
The ideal option is to install them together with the window. This allows the use of special "monoblocks" or concealed mounting systems (above the window), which do not block the light and are hidden in the façade. These solutions fit perfectly with Kömmerling or Rehau profiles, eliminating thermal bridges.
Do roller shutters help retain heat in winter?
Absolutely. An air cushion forms between the glass and the lowered shutter, acting like a thermos. This reduces heat loss through the window by 20-30%. In summer, roller shutters are more effective than air conditioners: they block sunlight before it can warm the glass unit, keeping the house cool.
Do they have to be opened manually, or are there automatic controls?
Manual operation is becoming a thing of the past. We equip our windows with electric drives (wired or radio-controlled). You can open all the windows in your home with the touch of a button on your remote control or via your smartphone. This is especially important for large panoramic Schüco or Cortizo systems, where the shutters can be heavy.
Can the roller shutter color be matched to the window color?
Of course. We strive for perfect visual unity. The shutter frame and guides are painted in the same RAL color as your windows (whether Veka, WDS, or aluminum). Laminated wood-effect options are also available to ensure the roller shutters blend harmoniously with the façade of your country house.
Do they protect against street noise?
Yes, especially models with foam-filled slats. When closed, they reduce street noise by 10–15 dB. This is an ideal solution for bedrooms or children's rooms with windows facing a busy road: you not only get quiet but also the ability to create a complete blackout for a comfortable sleep.
